Kutch Weave

This textile demonstrates the painstakingly three coveted extra weft technique. The fabric threads are carefully counted and the extra layer of threads that forms the motifs and patterns are woven in first by hand and then by loom. These includes motifs like chaumukh, dholki chokdi and guntheli chotli. Kutchi motifs can be traced to the ancient Harappan civilization and it depicts freedom, identity, and being with family for the weaver community.
